Welcome to the Gower Peninsula

Celebrating over 50 years of designation as Britain’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

rhossili02

Famous for its undulating landscape and craggy limestone cliffs sheltering Gower’s many sandy beaches.

In contrast, Rhossili Bay with its 4 mile stretch of sandy beach exposed to the Atlantic provides an ideal venue for surfing; hang-gliding from the adjoining cliff tops is also a popular attraction.

Oxwich Bay, with its golden sands flanked by sand dunes, woodland and marshland,, has been designated a National Nature Reserve.

Steeped in history, Gower has a wealth of ancient sites - castles, churches, bone caves and burial ground of its early inhabitants.

From the highest point on Gower, near Arthur’s Stone, a Neolithic tomb, a panoramic view extends from the north coast of Devon to the Brecon Beacons in Mid Wales.
